TRAFFORD SEND REFORMS INFORMATION DAY Wednesday 18 th March 2015 CO-PRODUCTION - WORKING TOGETHER IS BETTER Justine Bailey – Director Trafford Parents Forum

WHAT IS CO-PRODUCTION ‘Co-production is a dynamic group process and happens when there is equal value for each participant’s contribution’ Co-production with parent carers: the SE7 Experience

WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE CO-PRODUCTION WORK Co-production is fundamental to the reforms, and is Everyone’s Business. Not just for the implementation period. Needs to become embedded in the process and believed. Needs to be threaded through decision making at every level. Keeping an open mind and being open to alternatives. Compromise, trust & honesty. Commitment and Leadership.

CO-PRODUCTION – TOP TIPS Who do I need to involve? And INVOLVE them immediately. Then ask who have I missed out. Co-production – best starting place for co-production is at the beginning. Come to the table without an agenda and build that agenda together. Planning, development and delivery of the service – involve people who use the service/provision and their families Accessible – Everything in the co-production process. Good facilitation, listening and acting upon what is heard. Make sure that no one group or person is more important than anyone else. Everyone can contribute given the right support. Co-production top tips PIPStockport
