The Story of Bread

Everyone loves bread. We eat it every day. Bread is good for us.

Bread looks like this.

Do you want to know where bread comes from?

Bread is made from dough. Dough is made from flour. Flour comes from wheat and wheat is grown by the farmer.

The farmer plants the seeds.

The seeds grow in the sun and the rain.

The wheat grows tall and when it is a ripe golden colour the farmer cuts it and takes it to his barn. This is known as Harvest time. The wheat grows tall, and when its a ripe, golden colour, the farmer cuts it and takes it to his barn. This is known as harvest time.

He then takes it to the mill where it is ground into flour.

Flour can be white or brown. It is now ready to make bread.

Maybe your mum makes bread at home. Now you could tell her where the flour came from.

There are many different types of bread. Why not go out shopping and see how many different types of bread you can find.
