Embrace the Ah-hah Moment!

THE PLAN GOAL: To increase revenue generated by student fees. STRUCTURE: The structure of the project consisted of a clear, concise and logical layout of facts, figures, and comparative data from our peer and comparable institutions. PROCESS: First - Identifying the need for additional revenue (facts); Second - Planning for best utilization(presenting) and third - Support from administration (Academic Provost). OUTCOME: Desired outcome is the Board of Regents approval of library fee increase.

OUTLINE OF PRESENTATION Submitted to Board of Regents SOURCES OF FUNDING ITEMIZED EXPENSES CURRENT FUNDING COVERS EXPENDITURES FOR ALL FUNDS SHORT FALLS IN CURENT BUDGET PROPOSED NEW REVENUE ITEMIZED USE OF PROPOSED NEW REVENUE

ABSTRACT SUMMARY The amount of information is expanding exponentially as well its associated costs. The need for libraries to find or increase new revenue streams is paramount. Competing against several other very legitimate competitive proposals for fee increases around campus created a very challenging environment. Also, we had to change how the University community viewed the Library, and develop a holistic perspective and tell our story.

Holistic Perspective To Change Change is inevitable and leadership involves looking at organization not only where it is, the future needs and how will those needs be best addressed. Informed users will adapt to change and embrace using resources when there is a comfort level in usage.
