Storing Food Safely In The Fridge Store raw meat, fish or chicken in a sealed container. Ready-to-eat food should be covered and stored above the bottom shelf.

Your Fridge Clean the inside and outside of the fridge once a week. Throw out food once it has passed its sell-by date. Do not put hot food in the fridge - let it cool first.

The Freezer The freezer should be below -18 º C. All food should be in good condition before it is frozen. All foods should be labelled and dated. Frozen food should be defrosted in the fridge.
