CREATING AN OUTLINE FOR AN ESSAY World History

Step 1: Plan it out.  Identify the main points of the unit that will support the essay.  Where would you find this information?  Organize those points so that they make sense to you.  Can you group any together into a larger point?

Step 2:Flesh it out.  Put points into an outline form: Make them into a clear, 1 sentence summary.  Now find supporting details  Look through notes and Anticipation Guide  Find at least two summary sentences or detail sentences that you can use to explain your topic  Fill those in.

Step 3: Knit it together.  Look over the outline.  Think of how each piece will fit together to help answer your essential question.  Write a transition sentence to connect each main point to the next (make this the third point under each heading).
