Presentation transcript:

Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira Sustainable Architecture, combines two terms that in recent centuries have become contradictory but they are still the foundation of our society and therefore converge absolutely necessary. The architecture is aimed at modifying the environment, creating new spaces that are adequate to our needs protecting us from the more or less hostile conditions of Nature. Therefore, the architecture (as a synthesis of everything built) is the basis of our past and our future without which human society is conceivable however that this could be ecological.

Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira Sustainable Criteria The sustainable building has different criteria, including taking into account: the construction, conservation and water efficiency, daylighting, energy conservation, natural cooling systems, which are presented below:

Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira Sustainable Criteria Construction 2. The new materials. 50% of the new materials were produced within 500 miles of Pittsburgh. Almost 10% of new building materials are manufactured with recycled compounds. 1.The environment is considered. As the original center was shot down over 95% of demolition waste was recycled by crushing and filling material useful for this new building.

Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira An aquifer located 50 meters below the center, provides makeup water to the cooling system, reducing water demand of the water system of the city. The energy per pulse of cooling tower water is used to treat bacterial elimination without chemicals. This design element saves 1.8 million gallons of water per year. The convention center recycled water used for washing and flushing urinal. The water is conditioned by aerobic digestion and sub-micron filtration system. Water Conservation and Efficiency Sustainable Criteria

Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira These characteristics have shown a 66% reduction in water purchased. The landscaping is indigenous DLCC southwestern Pennsylvania, which eliminates the need for irrigation entirely dependent on natural rainfall. Water Conservation and Efficiency The system recycles 50 percent of the center's water and saves an estimated 6.4 million gallons per year. Water conservation is extremely important in the DLCC. An in-water reclamation facility site recycles waste water from sinks, fountains and faucets for use in toilets. Sustainable Criteria
