The Idea The “Secretary” navigation system creates a personal relationship between the user (driver) and the car through integrating the user’s phone and the automobile. This idea is implemented in software on the car (navigation system) and phone (phone applications) The phone application would include features such as saved destinations, schedules, and interest updates. This information will be pushed to the car's navigation system to be used and applied to the environment of the car

How it works? Phone application (so it would be limited to smart phone users) would have a menu bar options such as destinations, schedules, interest updates The user can input new destinations or save destinations The schedule option would allow the user to save reminders, timing and location of appointments Interest update option presents the user with an option to use the information from the phone such as what frequently used application, weather updates, or Through integrating the phone and the car, the device constructs a context relevant view on a underlying database- phone

Little League Basketball Today, Jerry has to take his son to a little league basketball game. He is so busy with work he forgets. Luckily, the event is in Jerry's phone schedule, so on the way back from work, the navigation reminds him, and updates it's destination accordingly.

Phone call Jerry is on the way home from work with his children in the car. They are discussing how each of their days went and what they learned at school. As Jerry is driving, he receives a call from work, the voice navigation asks if Jerry would like to answer the phone. Jerry answers “no, remind me when I get home.” The car ignores the call and reminds Jerry as he parks his car.

The Commute Today, Jerry has to go to a meeting 45 minutes away through morning traffic. He leaves his home 30 minutes earlier in order to make sure he is own time. On the way to work, his phone takes the information from his phone such as ESPN updates, current weather news, and headlines from his favorite national newspaper such USA today This information can be heard over voice navigation or displayed on the screen when the car is parked

Traffic Updates Jerry is late leaving work and he has to pick up his children from school. His normal path from work to his children’s school has a road block with extensive delays His navigation system reroutes him with new directions around the road block He avoids the traffic and makes it his children’s school as the bell rings for the end of school

Typical User When Jerry is stuck in a meeting, he get's a notification asking him to He receives a weather update on his phone. The update ask if she wants the car cooled before coming back to the car. She also receives a notification from her phone, asking if she wants the radio off when the car is turned on to make sure not to wake up a sleeping infant. The application asks this question based on her schedule and daycare location.
