ALL SOULS’ DAY

This tradition is preserved almost without weapons while fighting against the power of marketing and globalization that brings imported customs are adopted more quickly by children or young people who do not yet know their royal traditions.

This tradition was born from the union of ancient superstitions and Christian religious convictions, that the ancestors were missionaries. The tradition says that God give permission for the soul to go where he spent his earthly existence, they arrive home, so relatives and friends prepare, "Offerings" to wait.

This celebration begins on the 1st. November with the placement of the offerings in the houses of the dead person. These offerings consist of "all things that the deceased liked to eat and drink." Chicha, locros, spicy, wine, fruits, bread in different shapes like stair, doves, cross, that are prepared or buy.

There is a really festive air because of the colorful decorations on the tombs and the activity provoked by the arrival of the souls. On the morning of 2 November, a visit is paid to the dead. Prayers, flowers and wreaths of paper flowers give the cemetery

Back home, they “clear the table”, first retaining a portion of each dish and drink to “offer to Pachamama”.
