Hilary Mortensen Dec. 4, 2013 AMERICAN PIE, JUNO, ANGER MANAGEMENT: COMPARED

 This presentation is to compare and contrast American Pi, Juno and Anger Management  All three movies have very different plots.  Juno is about a girl who gets pregnant in high schol  American Pie is about a guy at graduation wanting to lose his virginity  Anger Management deal with a man who gets sentenced to anger management with an angry therapist. OBJECTIVE:

 Similarities:  They both take place in high school, and deal with sex in high school.  Both main characters are a little dorky.  In the end someone finds love.  Plus, they both show that things are not always what you expect them to be.  Differences Messages?  While these two movies are different in a variety of ways, the message they send is similar, like opposite sides.  Juno shows teenage pregnancy and what a girl has to deal with, especially in high school.  Whereas American Pie show a what it can be like to be a guy in high school who just wants to have sex, but maybe that’s not all there is? JUNO VS. AMERICAN PIE

What’s the same?  Both, in different ways, show that nothing is perfect, but something are more so than you might think.  Consequences suck. Whether it is getting pregnant or for something you didn’t do, or that was over dramatized. What’s different here…?  Anger Management is about not stressing too much, but Juno shows the stress that comes with being an adult  Anger management shows what it’s like to be an adult  Whereas Juno is about not trying to grow up so fast and the “adult” choices we make. JUNO VS. ANGER MANAGEMENT

Common Points  Both have a main character that was humiliated.  They have a crazy character that makes everything worse  In a way both movies show that you shouldn’t take things too seriously. Differences  Anger Management-the main charcter has a joke played on him, whereas American Pie the main character is a kind of a joke.  They show love at different stages, American Pie is in high school and he finds his love, but Anger Management is as an adult. PIE VS. ANGER

 Common Themes:  LOVE- in unexpected ways/places (plus, being funny)  Patience is important  And…  You have to take life as it comes, even the things that suck. ALL TOGETHER NOW!

END.
