Presentation transcript:

ANIMALS (VERTEBRATES) Fish They are acuatic vertebrates that can live in salt water and in fresh water They breathe through gills They have elongated shape to move through water with less resistance (Hydrodynamic shape) Their body temperature changes with the environment (they are cold blooded animals) Bony fish (Salmon, trout) Ovíparos Cartilaginous fish (Shark, rays) Ovovivíparos

Amphibians Anuros Urodelos (frogs and toads) (Salamanders) - They are animals capable of living in terrestrial environments but they need to be near aquatic or humid environments. Adults breathe through lungs and throgh skin because they are terrestrials. Youngs breathe through gills because they are aquatics They are cold blooded animals Two types: Anuros (frogs and toads) Urodelos (Salamanders) The frog’s metamorphosis (To change into adults):

Reptiles Crocodiles Lizards Turtles Snakes Most of them live on land, but some live in water They breathe through lungs They reproduce by internal fertilization. Female lay eggs from which babies emerge. They are covered with scales. They are cold blooded animals (They have to sunbathe to warm the body) Lizards Turtles Snakes

Birds Wing with feathers skull Beak Penguins Tail Neck Ostrich Leg They have a beak Their body is covered with feathers They are hot blooded animals (Their internal body temperature is always the same) They breathe through lungs They lay eggs (oviparous) Some of them can fly because: - They have wings - They have hollow and light bones. The lungs go into their bones (air sacs) and help them to breathe while flying. - They have an aerodynamic shape Wing with feathers skull Beak Penguins Tail Neck Ostrich Leg chicken Dove

Mammals Mouse Monkey Whale (Gorilla) Bat They have four limbs that are adapted to climb, run, swim or fly Their body is covered with hair They are hot blooded animals (Their internal body temperature is always the same) (Homeotermos) They breathe through lungs Babies grow into their mothers (viviparous) and females feed their babies with milk produced by mammary glands Mouse Monkey (Gorilla) Whale Bat
