This I Believe Project Colleen Orr

I believe that all creatures should be able to breathe fresh air, see the sun, feel the grass and experience the world in which they live freely.

I believe that we are what we eat- and, unfortunately, most people do not know what that is.

I believe that the best way to end animal suffering is to stop supporting the cause. Most of the meat the world consumes comes from factory farms, which are hardly farms at all. At first, I only wanted to eat meat that came from local, family farms, where the pigs, chickens or cattle were raised and treated like they should be, and if I didn’t know, I wasn’t going to eat it. Now, it is much easier to say, “I’m vegetarian.” than it is to say “I only eat meat that comes from family-owned farms.” After abstaining from meat for two weeks, I had a hamburger from a local farm and found that I didn’t like how meat tasted anymore.

As for the environment, the carbon footprint for the processing of animals is 40% greater than the carbon footprint from transportation vehicles all over the world combined.

I believe animals shouldn’t live this way;

I believe animals shouldn’t live this way; that our health should be cherished;

I believe animals shouldn’t live this way; that our health should be cherished; and that we are the cause, but we are also the solution to this problem.

I believe animals shouldn’t live this way; that our health should be cherished; and that we are the cause, but we are also the solution to this problem. This I believe.
