Introduction to Healthcare Informatics

Career Opportunities  There are many different types of medical careers that would appeal to people of all different personalities, and interests.  Health careers have traditionally been thought of as having a career as a doctor, nurse, dentist, or veterinarian.

Career Opportunities  Healthcare careers are changing and are now open to people who have an interest in computer science as well as biological science.  Healthcare is also driven by business and people going into the field can also have an interest in business and management.

Healthcare Informatics  Combines the fields of management, sciences, and business technology.  An emerging field due to the rapid development of technology, and the Federal mandates to develop standardized medical records.

Healthcare Informatics  U. S. Department of Labor predicts that in the future the top job outlooks will be in healthcare information technology.  Jobs will be available in a variety of settings-hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and doctor’s offices.
