 In Sindh produced 982,035 million cubic feet (MCFT) of gas.  Sindh consumed only 461,779 MCFT, which is less than 50% of its production.  Hence over 50% of the gas produced by the provinces was used out side the province.  In Sindh produced 13.3 million barrels of oil having value about 91 billion rupees. (US$ 115/barrel, Rs. 60/US$) Sindh’s Contribution

Out of 11,613 employees in SSGC and SNGPL, Sindh’s share was 3,613 (including 1,940 from Karachi) whereas Punjab’s share was 5,454. (Former Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Amanullah Jadoon told NA on 14 th April 2007) Dividend for Sindh

 Major oil and gas producing areas such as Badeen, Khairpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Dadu, Larkana/Qambar, Sanghar are completely under developed and communities surrounding the oil and gas field live in primitive ages.  According to Human Development Report of UNDP (2003) Badin, the major oil producing district ranked at 60th out of 91 districts in country.  Only 3 districts of Sindh (including Karachi and Hyderabad) found place in top thirty districts of country on HDI.  The same report placed Rural Sindh lowest among all urban and rural areas of all provinces ranked on HD Index.
