 It is our mission at Forest Regional Healthcare to enhance and improve health of those we serve in our community and beyond. Our goal is to provide caring quality, integrity and innovation of excellence.

 Forest Regional Healthcare is to be the best health care system in the world. We will attain this position by transforming health care through aligning processes, technology, people, values and policies to continually improve. We strive to constantly seek new, innovative ways of meeting customer needs and exceeding expectations. Our value is unending focus on our patients, their families and embodying a unending dedication to our employees.

 Why we are here  We have analyzed our current HIT and developed an IS tactical plan to support our strategic initiatives.  Decision making process consisted of the following criteria and weight: Alignment with IDN goals – Quality/Patient Safety – Financial ROI – Implementation/Tech Risk – Infrastructure – 11.25

 Create a virtual medical community service arena in which medical centers, associated physicians and hospitals engage in a separate and shared EHR system.  Foster physician development and relations  Develop partnership with patients and community  Promote employee relations  Show value proposition (low cost consistent with high quality, demonstrated high performance on outcomes)

 Our vision is to be the top HCO in the area by adding value to the HCO and patients.  To do so, upgrades to current systems (EMR, Kronos) as well as implementation of new systems (BCMA, ODS) are needed.  Changes are necessary in order to improve patient safety, satisfaction and operation efficiency.

 Community-based provider  Multi-hospital with Centers for Heart, Lung, Vascular, Cancer, and Cardiology, Women’s health, Neuro Sciences, and Orthopedics  Senior Communities for Independent and Assisted living, Long- term care  Home Care  Hospice  Staffing Agency  Nursing Homes (Joint Venture)

 Healthcare IT that aligns with FRC’s own quality and cost-efficient goals and with federal programs and regulations.  Improvements in Efficiency and Effectiveness of Care  Improvements in Quality of Care  Reduction in Costs of Care  Improvements in Outcomes of Care  Patients to have greater access to their personal health information and to communicate electronically with their providers.

 Medical staff  Communications technologies  Overemphasis on institutionalized care; fragmented funding and service delivery  Inadequate training and technical assistance; ineffective diagnostic and referral networks; limited information technology (IT) and data collection; and inadequate financial resources.  Caregiver experience diminished

 Multiple meetings/conference calls were scheduled with senior management.  Took inventory of proposed IT initiatives  Included new applications and upgrades to existing systems  Analyzed proposed initiatives by reviewing:  Project description/objectives  Value to the organization  Risks  Assumptions and Dependencies

 Created a chart that displayed the linkage between the proposed initiatives and our organizations goals.  Carried out a budget analysis for every initiative  Created a timeline of when the initiatives would be started and planned around interdependencies to other projects.
