General Public Pathology Residents Medical Students Practicing Professionals IN THE FUTURE: TARGET AUDIENCE
High School and college students. Video or DVD explaining the profession for use in science classes or career days could have a positive impact.
2 hours single FP lecture in medical school. Focusing on death certification principles would bring concepts of death to the medical students attention Raise awareness of the need for national FP
Pathology residents do 1 month or longer rotation an accredited FP training program Incorporate death certification and additional forensic questions into its anatomic pathology examination. Residents could be encourage to publish forensic related case report and descriptive studies.
Alternative training pathways were suggested ◦ Internal medicine plus 1 year of anatomic pathology and 1 year of forensic pathology. To pay better salaries
FP requires passionate commitment. The committee should not have to talk people into it. The need to let people know the career exist and that it is a viable career. There should not need to encourage people. Shows like CSI have them pouring in.
Pay is extremely low and the standard of work is often low. Improve remmuneration and better working conditions are required More emphasis on medical students with more academic approach and orientation
