WP7: Risk management & development of guidelines/recommendations WP7 - Leaders: JRC, REC WP7 - Participants: REC, IDMEC-FEUP, NIEH, JRC, VITO, THL, UBA, UMIL, USiena, TNO, RIVM, IV, UCL Start date: Month 19; End date: Month 24

WP7 - Objective  To provide risk management options and produce EU guidelines on measures to improve IAQ in school settings covering a wide array of situations (i.e. geographical, social, technical) across Europe.

WP7 - Description of work (1/2) Task 1: Reach broad consensus on a framework for deriving risk management options, recommendations and guidelines on appropriate measures related to indoor air pollution in European schools taking into consideration the following factors: contributions of outdoor air pollution into IAQ; contributions of building heating, ventilation and overall energy consumption to the school indoor environment; building product emissions and their contributions to IAQ; IAQ and health impacts of occupant behavior; emissions of air pollutants from consumer products including building maintenance products, cleaning and maintenance products, pesticides (outdoor) and equipments; (Month: 12-15)

WP7 - Description of work (2/2) Task 2: Compilation of an inventory on IAQ related known remedial measures, best practices and tools in school buildings across Europe and beyond ( Month: 15 to 19) Task 3: Derivation of risk management options, recommendations and guidelines on appropriate measures related to indoor air pollution in European schools ( Month: 19 to 22 )  Specific part (related to SINPHONIE’s specificity)  General part (applicable beyond SINPHONIE’s specificity) Task 4: Develop a communication plan, initiatives and tools to promote awareness about IAQ issues among school managers, parents and school children in EU-27 ( Month: 19 to 22 )
