 A goal is a general statement about a desired outcome with one or more specific objectives  A goal contains PRECISE terms  A goal can be accomplished in a designated time frame

 S=Specific  M=Measureable  A=Achievable  R=relevant  T=time-bound

 Goal objectives should address the 5ws..  Who, what, when, where, and why  Use action verbs  For example: Earn________________________ Create______________________ Spend ______________________

 Goal objectives should include numeric (#) or descriptive measures that define quality  How will you, or your parent(s), or teacher(s) know when the goal has been successfully met?  For example, by the end of the quarter, weekly, next month, etc.

 Goal objectives should be within your control and influence  Goals may be a “stretch” but still feasible  Do you have the resources to achieve goal?

 Goals should be important to your current needs (as a student, daughter/son, team member)  How will the goal help you? And ultimately your family, community, etc

 Goal objectives should identity a define target date for completion  And specific action steps that are needed for achieving the goal  Incorporate specific dates

1). Do better!

2). Earn a 3.5 grade point average on my 3 rd Quarter Report Card

3). Get involved!

4). Try harder!

5 ). Arrive to school by 7:30 a.m. everyday for the month of February

1). Eat less.

2). Eat 3-5 fruits and/or vegetables a day for the month of March

3). Look better!

4). Lose 5 pounds by March 31, 2014

5). Exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes for 8 weeks

1). Be successful!

2). To become a nurse by the age of 23 years old

3). To become a social worker for high school students

4). To make a lot of money

5). To become a lawyer by the age of 27 years old
