Lindsay FFA

FFA is an intercurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of three components of agricultural education.

Future Farmers of America changed its name to: The National FFA Organization The FFA Stresses three closely related areas Leadership Personal growth Career

The Purpose of the FFA is to develop: Leadership Scholarship opportunities Improvements in Agriculture Cooperation/Team Work Citizenship/ Patriotism Service and Character Thrift / Fiscally responsible

We have contests and events that help to develop these: LDE’s : Leadership Development Events These are contests that are held in the fall each year they are centered around speaking events, agriculture FFA knowledge and parliamentary procedure. Being able to communicate effectively and how to present yourself is a great confidence booster!

CDE’s : Career development events These events are held in the spring and are designed to provide students with knowledge that will prepare them for specific agriculture jobs Many students chose to use the skills they learn in CDE contest in college and in their careers.

Camps and Conferences FFA members have opportunities to attend the following camps and conferences: Chapter FFA meetings and banquet District FFA meetings and banquet Greenhand FFA camp Area FFA convention Area FFA leadership camp State FFA convention Chapter FFA officer retreat

SAE projects Showing livestock animals is a common supervised agriculture experience “SAE” that students choose. Livestock projects are a great way to teach students responsibility, organization, and sportsmanship. Many parents enjoy the process as well because they get to spend time with their children. The most successful individuals are generally those whose entire family is involved with their projects

Record Keeping Part of the SAE project is record keeping We use a online system called AET, online record books are required to receive your Lonestar degree

Scholarships There are scholarships available through the FFA These require you to be very active in every aspect of FFA including community service projects The first step is to get involved.
