RECOGNISED PROGRAMMES AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIFFERENT LEVELS OF MANAGEMENT Future Leaders Programme Overview CATALYST This programme provides a tailored individual development programme and covers a range of different areas, for example, leadership style and impact, handling change; community leadership and partnership working TRANSCEND This is a 'sector led' leadership programme. There are no taught modules, self-managed teams will deliver against a specific agenda sponsored by a West Midlands Chief Executive Existing Managers Programme Overview ILM 5 Leadership & Management Certificate This programme covers areas such as: understanding the management role; leadership capability and performance critical thinking; innovation and change; developing and leading teams ILM 5 Leadership & Management Diploma This programme covers areas such as: leadership, managing processes, managing teams, HR management, change management and managing in the public Sector New and Aspiring Managers Programme Overview ILM 2 Team Leading This programme will develop skills in areas such as: developing yourself as a Team Leader; running and monitoring work; improving performance of your work team Steps to Leadership - Accelerate This programme aims toprovide practical tools to enhance your approach to leadership; an increased awareness of issues facing leaders within the public sector and an opportunity to network and learn from other mangers

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES – IN DETAIL Programme & Provider Details Target Group Overview Study Commitment Application Process Cost Catalyst WM Employers All events will be held in central Birmingham Future Leaders Aspiring leaders who have the skills, competence and ambition to move into a senior role, e.g. Head of Service within 3 years. This programme provides a tailored individual development programme and covers areas such as: Leadership style and impact; the role of leadership in shaping the organisational culture; your preferred approach to strategic thinking; handling change; community leadership and partnership working. Modules: Development Centre 360 Degree review Personal and partnership modules Partnership leadership module Action learning sets Coaching Full details can be found on (insert link to website flyer) 7 month programme Approximately 2 days per month Cohort of 16 delegates from a range of Public Sector organisations Mix of workshops; action learning; reading and reflection Supported by 360 degree review and coaching. WCC Initial Assessment process, Once approved, WM Employers process. Application stages: Online application form. Telephone interview £899 Transcend All events will be held at Aston Business School, Birmingham Managers operating at senior level with potential to move into Director/ CEO role in the next few years. This is a ‘sector led’ leadership programme. There are no taught modules, self-managed teams will deliver against specific agenda sponsored by a West Midlands Chief Executive. Delegates will become the Transcend Network. Full details can be found on: www.westmidlandsiep.gov.uk/transcend. 6 month programme 2 day overnight conference event 3 x 1 day facilitated sessions Self managed team meetings Open to 50 delegates from across the WM region from a range of Public Sector Organisations Option to access coaching, mentoring, 360 feedback and webinar facilities. Once approved, Transcend candidate submission form endorsed by CEO £1,500 These courses will be funded corporately for successful applicants who are in the learning and development levy.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES – IN DETAIL Programme & Provider Details Target Group Overview Study Commitment Application Process Cost ILM 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Coventry City Council All events will be held at Elm Bank Corporate Training Centre in Coventry Existing Mangers Practicing or aspiring middle managers looking to develop their leadership and management skills and provide a solid foundation for their formal development The programme covers the following modules: Induction Understanding the management role Assessing your own leadership capability and performance Developing and leading teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives Leading innovation and change Developing critical thinking Delivered over 13 days (11 months) Mix of tutor led sessions; action learning; tutorial support and assignments Assessed through reflective logs, presentations and reports based around the modules. 23 credits Supported by 3600 review Once approved – Coventry City Council application form £1,100 ILM 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management Staffordshire University (developed in consultation with Warwickshire Learning Consortium) All events will be held in Warwickshire Existing Managers Middle Managers within local and public sector organisations, looking to expand their leadership and management skills. This programme aims to provide practical tools to enhance your approach to leadership; an increased awareness of issues facing leaders within the public sector and an opportunity to network and learn from other managers. Modules: Motivating and managing a team Partnership working Officer and elected Member relations Self promotion 6 full day workshops (7 months) 3 x ½ day action learning set meetings 4 module projects (4 hours personal study/ project) Modules 1 and 2 include profile of your motivational values to improve working relationships Module 3 includes a session with an elected Member as guest speaker Once approved – WM Employers application form £650 These courses will be funded corporately for successful applicants who are in the learning and development levy.
