Summary Demand of Gigabit JP-CN link should be clarified, and Proposal of Joint Research Projects between China and Japan should be submitted to Over provisioning by DWDM will help APAN expand the bandwidth; we should develop high performance applications. NASDA’s Wideband Internet Satellite (WINDS) was explained.

Wideband Internetworking Engineering Test and Demonstration Satellite (WINDS) has following goals; ● Ultra High Speed Satellite Communication 155Mbps downlink for home use with USAT(45cmφ) 1.2Gbps duplex link for company use ● Wide Area Coverage for Asia-Pacific Area Data Rate coverage Present Communication Satellite Wide-area Communicati on Regional Multicasting Communication Multi Beam Antenna/ Multi Port Amplifier Active Phased Array Antenna wide high low narrow Goal of WINDS program

Korea – Europe Research Collaborations Government funding for international research collaborations using advanced networks such as APII, TEIN, etc. since 2001 –Policy dilemma: physical network(s) provided free of charge Funding for research activities too? In case of the year 2003, KISDI received 17 applications and finally selected 6 projects for TEIN
