The New Year began for South Asia with tons of relief pouring into Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. Indonesia’s death toll continues to soar. The most needy areas of Aceh have still received very little aid due to destroyed coastal roads.

Topics Week 2 Topics Week 2 1.“Hold on, aid is coming” 2.Logistical Nightmare 3.“God is angry with the Aceh People” 4.Indonesian Christians respond 5.P.R.A.Y. for Aceh 6.Ways to give Lined up for water in Banda

About 13,000 U.S. servicemen are now in Indonesia along with 10 ships, costing about 6 million a day. About 13,000 U.S. servicemen are now in Indonesia along with 10 ships, costing about 6 million a day. Towns and agriculture on the flood plains destroyed. Coastal roads gone. Mountains and swamp block aid except by helicopter. "In my 17 years of service, I have never seen such devastation and I hope that I'll never see such again in my life," said Senior Chief Jesse Cash, of Albuquerque, N.M., who has served in Somalia and Liberia. “Hold on, Aid is Coming”

Logistical Nightmare Logistical Nightmare 1.Aceh Airport Tons of aid piling up in Banda Only two forklifts work 2.Lhoksumawe Port No containers; 2 forklifts Airstrip - 3 planes at a time 3.Meulaboh Port Seafloor change; mudflats Amphibous military craft only 4.Medan to Aceh trucks hours by truck 5.Simeulue and Nias Is. Surfers and churches give aid Some agencies are giving up on coastal towns: “Move them to camps in Banda”

"God is angry with the Aceh people, because most of them do not do what is written in the Koran and the Hadith," explained Cut Bukhaini, 35, an imam. "I hope this will lead all Muslims in Aceh to do what is in the Koran and its teachings. If we do so, God will be merciful and compassionate." A woman begs passing strangers to help retrieve her mothers body from the rubble. Pray for the Christians volunteers to be able to show God’s love to the people of Aceh.

Christian’s reach out to Aceh, “The back porch of Mecca,” with hundreds of churches donating food and clothes, dozens of doctors, nurses, and counselors arriving in Aceh. Sunday 1/2 Survey teams start work with orphans, buy 4wd vehicles Tuesday 1/4 Soup kitchen setup, supplies sought Wednesday 1/5 80 believers trained by professional relief worker Thursday 1/6 Forty of 80 leave for Aceh, second training held Friday 1/7 Large survey team leaves for coast Saturday 1/8 Simple hotel 33 rooms rented for 2 yrs

How To P.R.A.Y. for Aceh 1.Pray for “P” teams – Prayer Network and Prayer Warriors The National Prayer Network has organized the “Sumatra Concern Coalition” to coordinate help from hundreds of churches. These national workers speak the language and do a lot of the dirtiest work that relief agencies can’t or won’t do. 2. Pray for the “R” teams – Residents of Aceh Pray for the hurting Acehenese people and those who were not hurt and are giving aid to their neighbors and families. 3. Pray for the “A” teams – Aid delivery from many nations. Aid teams are being mobbed. Thieves also steal and sell aid. 4. Pray for the “Y” teams – Teams sharing about “Yesus” or Isa-al-Masih (Jesus the Messiah) with Muslims. Islamist groups are stirring anti Christian hatred on the ground.
