Class – 2013 Sally-Ann Lucas

What will the children learn in Year 2? How can parents/carers help? How are children assessed in year 2?

Term 1

How can parents/carers help? Reading to your child or listening to your child read every night. Supporting your child with their homework. PE kit needed on Mondays and Thursdays. Swimming kit (Mondays in term 1 & term 3 and Tuesdays in 6).

How can parents/carers help? Allowing us to borrow your treasured possessions and books for our themes! For example: objects from the 1960s, eg. clothes, games. souvenirs from France, eg. dolls in national costumes, maps of Paris, travel brochures.

How are children assessed in year 2? Every child is given an attainment level for reading, writing and mathematics at the end of each school year. These levels shows what the child can do in each subject. We also value each child’s achievement. That is, how much progress the child has made.

Examples of children’s writing: Level 1 Level 2 Level 3

And Finally… Every child is important. Every child matters. We are committed to Children First.
