Self Family Foundation BioBridge The objective of Biobridge SC is concise: Improve teacher instruction and student learning in the life sciences in grades The focus on life science is necessary due to the fact that beginning this year, high school students will have to pass the Biology End of Course test to graduate.
Inquiring Minds: Reading to Learn and Innovate in Mathematics and Science - IQ-MS 148 qualified Middle schools in 63 school districts 10 to be selected for treatment and 10 for control (2 each per S 2 TEM Centers SC region) Applications due March 9 th $250,000 match due in November $50,000 in existing S 2 TEM funds BMW, EOC, Office of the Governor, ARC, Plum Creek, Other? S 2 TEM Centers SC will be a public/private/fee-for-service funded, not-for-profit, statewide support infrastructure for economic development through STEM education. Things we might do for the State… Support STEM schools Assist with Math and Science Standards work Support schools in need as identified by ESEA criteria.
Clear statewide intentions (41 of 50) Involvement of business/industry partners (36 of 50) strategic plans for STEM - IA, IN, NC, MA, MD, and MT (FL in progress). Involvement of departments of education (19 of 50) involvement of state’s executive office (15 of 50) Sustaining STEM through regional centers or “hubs” - ID, MI, NM, NY, OH, OR, SC & TN.
