What is the genre of the story? The genre is realistic fiction it is also a short story. 2. How do you know that Lupe is talented? She wins trophies for her accomplishments in reading, spelling, chess, and science. 3. Why does Lupe want to win a sports contest? She is good at everything except sports. She wants to prove that she is good at sports too.
