Cereals – Data collection System The competent authority for the collection of data related to cereals is the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, Department of Cereals According to the existing national and EU legal frame, on weekly or yearly basis, there is a certain amount of statistical data to be collected and send to the Commission Authorities and National Statistical Services

Area covered Until 2013 the national area covered by the statistical data processing was limited to two (2) main centers Thessaloniki and Serres, both located in North Greece Today we are able to cover the whole country, with the regional authorities providing data once a week

Certification process By the end of 2013 the certification of data collection procedure and data processing, initiated by the Hellenic National Statistical Service ( in cooperation with experts from the UK Statistics Authority The methodology of statistical process is based on respective EU legal frame described in DG AGRI methodology guidelines sheets/methodology_en.pdf

Certification process During the process certain questions should be answered such as: Use of the collected data Accuracy Timeliness and punctuality Accessibility and clarity Comparability and coherence

Future - cereals Information System After the evaluation of the results from the National Statistical Services, certain amendments to the information system will take place We are also in process to conclude a MOC with Cereals’ stakeholders in order to improve the “quality” of the derived data
