Lesson #1 Animal Babies Standard: Students will know that organisms reproduce offspring of their own kind and that offspring resemble their parents and one another Materials: stuffed animals of pigs, zebras, elephants of different sizes and plastic toy figures of family with two parents and three children

Engagement Who made your breakfast this morning? Do animals have families?

Exploration Group work: recorder, reporter, materials, manager Materials given Observe toys and discuss Sort Draw picture of sorting

Explanation Can you tell me why you sorted them that way? What can we say about two animals of the same kind having babies?

Evaluation: Handout Adults Babies Put X If you agree
