The Production Team The size of the team depends on the size of the production - On small projects, a “team” can consist of one person who shoots, directs, produces and edits: One-Man Band EFP Team – Usually consists of 3 people; talent, camera op and a utility person to handle audio & lighting On large productions, such as a live TV program, the team can consist of up to 50 people or more!

Pre-Production Team Producer – In charge of the production - States purpose of the show - Prepares the budget - Hires additional personnel, equipment & over sees all activities - Develops the production schedule

Pre-Production Team Writer – Develops the script for the show; what the viewer will see and hear - The writer sometimes determines the format of the show - Usually many revisions needed to even the most simple script - Good scriptwriters are expensive to hire, but worth every cent!

Pre-Production Team Director – Translates the script into video & audio - Selects the production crew - Selects locations to shoot based on script - Works closely with the writer to develop the images and visuals for the show

Post-Production Team Usually consists of the director, editor and an audio designer who mixes the audio tracks

Who’s Responsibility Is It? A video-recording session was pushed ahead by 3 hours because of tight schedule and the crew was not prepared. Who’s Responsibility is it? Producer The producer is responsible for the scheduling all resources, including making any changes and communicating those changes to the crew

Lighting Director The lighting director is responsible for designing and lighting all scenes of a production. They will typically work with other personnel, such as grips to physically hang lights, but the LD is responsible for how the lighting looks on camera.

The Team Regardless of the position, during a production, everyone helps everyone else. You are all working toward one common goal. The production is not a success unless everyone does their job
