Eastlake’s SATA What it is: School of Advanced Technology Applications Fact: The number of job openings projected in 2018 for STEM fields will reach 2.8 million, and approximately half of these will be for computer specialists.

Eastlake’s Goals for SATA Our Goal is to prepare a generation of critical thinkers who are able to use computing to develop solutions to complex problems.

SATA Requirements Complete five or more courses in CS Enroll in at least two P/AP credit courses in math and science each year Participate in a minimum of two UIL or TSA competitions Complete a senior year project. Recommended Language: Chinese

School of Advanced Technology Applications (SATA) Courses are specific, curriculum is designed as a 4-year sequence Foundation courses: – Computer Science and Software Engineering, CSE – Computer Science Applications, CSA Specialization courses: – Robotics Programming and Design, Game Programming Design,, Digital Forensics, SAM, AI, SEC Capstone Course – CPS along with Discrete Math for CS

Freshmen: Computer Science and Software Engineering - PLTW Students will begin to develop programming expertise and explore the workings of the internet. Projects and problems include app development, visualization of data, cybersecurity, robotics, and simulation.

Sophomores: Computer Science Applications - PLTW Students will collaborate to produce programs that integrate mobile devices and leverages those devices for distributed collection and data processing. Students will work primarily in Java and other industry-standard tools. Prepares students for the AP test

Juniors: Specialization courses (1 year) Robotics Programming and Design Game Programming Design Mobile App Development

Specialization courses (1 Semester) Simulation and Modeling (SAM) students create models and simulate social, physical, and biological systems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) students develop artificially intelligent systems Cybersecurity (SEC) introduces tools and concepts of Cybersecurity

Capstone: Computational Problem Solving - PLTW Required to take Discrete Math or Dual Credit along with capstone Students work in teams to deliver a software solution to a real-world design problem. Partnerships
