New Advanced Higher Subject Implementation Events Computing Science Advanced Higher Course Assessment

Course Assessment at Advanced Higher  Course Assessment at AH assesses Added Value  Course at AH is graded A – D, as at present  Controlled Assessment of setting, conducting and marking  For AH Computing Science there are 2 Components: –a Project (60%) –a Question paper (40%)  No dual running at Advanced Higher in session

AH Computing Science – Question Paper 60 marks (40% of award) 2 hours sampling across all Course content application of knowledge and understanding drawing from Software Design and Development and Information System Design and Development equally

AH Computing Science – Question Paper 1 section only 4 structured questions of 15 marks each integrating across topics Programming questions in SQA standardised reference language Full reference language doc to be published end of March 2015

Workshop 2: Question paper Using the materials provided, in small groups of 2- 3, discuss:  Identify subject-specific topics for discussion Using the materials provided, in small groups, discuss:  how questions relate to the CAS topic areas  which questions are familiar from AH Computing  which questions cover new ground  how questions approach progress from Higher  the depth of answers required as indicated in MIs  existing teaching materials which can still be used

AH Computing Science - Project What it does: Assesses the practical application of skills and knowledge from across the Course 90 marks (60% of award) Documents needed: GAI (general assessment information) Project Assessment Task, with candidate guide The project will be: Carried out under supervised conditions Internally marked (subject to verification)
