During 1963 and 1964 a team of engineers at the Smiths Industries Development Laboratory in Brighton of which I was one designed and developed the worlds first electronic appliance control system This was the Smiths Electronic Appliance Control “S.E.A.C.” Although very sophisticated it was not taken up by the appliance manufacturers Some of its advanced features have not to this day been incorporated into appliances
