Advisor 5.0 Lingering Issues - update Tim Miller

Advisor 5.0 Known issues  Problems converting notes  Can’t get back to Advisor Component entry screen  Advisor only saves one row of deliverable issue changes  Advisor freezes on certain review IR -> DR  New install says will expire 7/31/09  Analysis Reporting taking longer?

Problems Converting notes Issue: One user had an issue where none of his notes appear to have converted when upgrading from 4.7 to 5.0. Resolution: We downloaded the users usernote2002.adb and userprof2002.adb files and had the notes converted by hand Update: Also had an issue if the user had specified another folder for the user databases. A fix for this is in August data update.

Can’t get back to Advisor Component entry screen Issue: User was in a component editing screen and used alt-tab to go and look up the data. User could then not find the correct screen and it appeared that Advisor was locked up. Resolution: We have a mini update for June that fixes this issue. Update: This is also in the August update.

Advisor only saves one row of deliverable issue changes Issue: User is trying to change comment and or change the severity of more than one issue in a deliverable issues screen. User finds that it only saves the most recent row. Resolution: We have a mini update for June that fixes this issue. Update: This is also in the August update.

Advisor freezes on certain review when converting from IR to DR Issue: User raised a ticket because Advisor appeared to hang when converting a certain review from an IR to a DR Resolution: Working with user to reproduce this issue. Update: Have not been able to reproduce this issue.

New install says will expire 7/31/09 Issue: On a brand new install of Advisor 5.0 user has noticed that it is saying it will expire on 7/31/09. This is incorrect. It should expire in Jan Resolution: User needs to exit out of Advisor and run dbPatch.exe from the Advisor folder.

Analysis Reporting taking longer? Issue: We have had a user say it seems to take longer the first time a analysis report is run. I have not seen this in my comparison with version 4.7. In fact I have seen a little faster performance. Resolution: We will look into this further for the August Data update.

Advisor Changes for Tier 4(i) - update David Stevenson

Update on Advisor changes for Tier 4(i)  Missing Data – we are still waiting for some of the data for Tier 4(i) engines. –You may see “insufficient data” warnings –More of this data will be available in the future updates

Extra Checklist Questions for Tier 4(i)  There were a few extra questions that the design group requested: –Lube Checklist: “If using a Tier 4(i)/Stage III(B) or later engine with Open Crankcase Ventilation (OCV) without a coalescing filter, will blowby from the open end of the breather tube cause excessive oil accumulation on engine or vehicle components?” –Lube Checklist: “If using a Tier 4(i)/Stage III(B) or later engine with Open Crankcase Ventilation (OCV) without a coalescing filter, will the open end of the breather tube be located in a high-velocity airflow area where the airflow is high enough to increase crankcase blowby?”

Extra Checklist Questions for Tier 4(i) (cont’d) –Fuel Checklist: “Does the equipment have a fuel blending system installed?” –Accessibility Tool: Rate the ability to remove and install the DPF.  New Exhaust Checklist questions: –“Has the OEM considered the safety considerations if combustible material were aspirated from the air cleaner into the hot exhaust pipe?” –“If the tailpipe is insulated is the insulation material able to withstand temperatures exceeding 975 C?”

Extra Checklist Questions for Tier 4(i) (cont’d) –“Is the DPF oriented to allow the drain hole to drain properly?” –“Does the tailpipe weight or inlet or outlet bending moment exceed the max values in AEB 24.40?” –“Does the temperature at the DPF electrical connection points exceed 125 C during regeneration?” –“Is the DPF’s strain relief hole used to restrain the OEM’s wiring harness?” –“Is the aftertreatment painted?” –“Does the OEM production process prevent foreign material, including paint and wash solution, from entering the aftertreatment?”

Extra Checklist Questions for Tier 4(i) (cont’d) –“Does the OEM production process utilize the DPF lift hooks?” –“Is the tubing between the engine and the aftertreatment designed to meet the EPA mandated useful life of 8,000 hours?” –“For QSX engines the tubing between the engine and the aftertreatment must be longer than 32 in. Has this requirement been met?”
