What is Skin Cancer? Written By Emily Habinski

Did you Know? Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Canada.

There are 3 main types of skin cancer… Basal cell carcinoma, Squamous cell carcinoma, Melanoma.

Skin is so important to humans because skin keeps us healthy by not allowing germs to enter our bodies.

If you have allergies you would know that skin reacts to different things that’s a way of your body telling you that’s not save for your body.

Skin is an interesting organ because skin grows as we do. Skin is so amazing because of its odd stretchy texture. Skin can protect us from harm. Skin

Cancer

Cancer is an infection that effects different organs in your body. When (if ) you get diagnosed with cancer it is a good idea to go to chemotherapy to help your body on its fight thru cancer.

Sadly breast cancer is well known for its deadly affect on women. If your family members have breast cancer you may haft to have special test to make sure nothing got past on.

What does skin Cancer look like?

Basel Cell Carcinoma Normally looks like a pearly, smooth, raised bump on sun exposed skin. Sometimes blood vessels can be seen with in the tumor. This form of skin cancer is the least deadly and with proper treatment can be eliminated without scaring.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma Normally looks like a red, scaling, thickend, patch on sun exposed skin. Bleeding may occur. Some are firm and hard. This type of skin cancer is the second most common. This type of skin cancer is dangerous but not as dangerous as melanoma. When Squamous Cell Carcinoma is not treated, it may develop into a large mass. Melanoma Various dark colors. Small amount are pinkish red or a fleshy colors these are called Melanomas witch are more aggressive. You may bleed and feel pain. Warning signs of Malignant Melanoma including change of size, shape, color or even elevation of a mole.
