Mark 8:22-33
V.22-23: Is Jesus trying to heal the man? Jesus has resurrected the dead, walked on water, fed thousands of people. Why is he now “trying” to heal a blind man? Why record this story before Christ literally begins his trek to the cross? Answer: See Scripture.
V.27: “On the way” to Jerusalem (Cross) V.30: “You are the Messiah”-The answer we have been waiting for! The Disciples understand…briefly. V.31-32: Gospel is preached to the disciples by Jesus! V.33: Everything falls apart…
The disciples can only see blurred and distorted images. The disciples fail to see the majesty before them. The disciples are blinded by their own “human concerns”.
Why did Mark include the difficult healing of the blind man? To show how Christ reveals Himself to the world! We can learn what not to do from the disciples: We cannot create a personal messiah. We cannot mold Jesus into our image. We cannot pick and choose the Jesus we desire.
Seek Christ and submit yourself to our Lord and Savior. See Jesus clearly as the Messiah, Christ. The Savior of the world! Let us Pray!
