“ Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him.” (1 Kings 16:30)

“As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” (1 Kings 17:1)

God punishes sin.

God is our protector and provider.

“I don’t have any bread- only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it- and die.” (1 Kings 17:12)

“For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.” (1 Kings 17:16)

God's word is true.

“Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!” (1 Kings 17:21)

Life and death are in God's hands.

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)

God has a perfect plan and perfect timing.

“Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire- he is God.” (1 Kings 18:23-24)

“Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” (1 Kings 18:27)

There is no one like our God.

“Then he said to them, 'Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.' 'Do it again,' he said, and they did it again. 'Do it a third time,' he ordered, and they did it the third time. The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench.” (1 Kings 18:33-35)

There is nothing God cannot do.

“ When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, 'The Lord- he is God! The Lord- he is God!' ” (1 Kings 18:39)

God has the whole world in His hands.

Elijah had seen God punishes sin. 2. God is our protector. 3. God's word is true. 4. Life and death are in God's hands. 5. God has a perfect plan and perfect timing. 6. There is no one like our God. 7. There is nothing God cannot do. 8. God has the whole world in His hands.

“Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. 'I have had enough, Lord,' he said. 'Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.' Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.” (1 Kings 19:3- 5)

“What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:9)

“I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” (1 Kings 19:14)

“Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.” (1 Kings 19:11-13)

“Go back the way you came.” (1 Kings 19:15)

WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

FEAR

SIN

CHURCH AS USUAL

Go back the way you came!

“You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.” (Revelation 2:4-5)
