The State Flag of Florida Adopted in 1899, Florida's flag represents the land of sunshine, flowers, palm trees, rivers and lakes. The seal features the sun, a palmetto tree, a steamboat sailing and a Native American (Seminole woman) scattering flowers.

State Motto of Florida ‘In God We Trust’ had been accepted as the state motto of Florida since the late 1800’s but wasn’t officially adopted until 2006. In July 2006, Governor Jeb Bush signed House Bill 1145, making ‘In God We Trust’ the official state motto.

Florida ranked second in the United States in the value of production of strawberries, bell peppers, and cucumbers for pickles. Florida ranked fourth in the value of production of honey.

Henry Morrison Flagler Henry Flagler was an American oil tycoon, hotel creator and railroad developer. He founded Palm Beach, Florida, and is known as the Father of Miami, Florida. Flagler College is named after him in St. Augustine. Flagler County and the city of Flagler Beach are named for him as well.

Famous Floridians Philip Donald Estridge, born in Jacksonville and lived in Boca Raton. Estridge led development of the original IBM Personal Computer (PC), and thus is known as "father of the IBM PC". Janet Reno, born in Miami, was the first United States Attorney General who was a woman.
