Physical characteristics V. Human characteristics  Physical characteristics-determined by nature- climate, landforms, plants, animals, soil  Human characteristics- defined by culture-such as language, clothing, architecture, government, transportation

Place  describes the features or landscapes that make an area unique

Human-Environment Interactions  How people and their environment affect each other

Movement  how and why people, ideas and things move

Tangible  REAL--able to be touched- food, clothing, products

Intangible  Not able to be touched or grasped- thoughts and ideas

Imports V. Exports  Import--items coming into a country  Exports items leaving a country to sell in another country

Regions  areas of the world purposely divided by geographers so that comparisons can be made

Absolute Location v. Relative Location  Absolute Location-- a specific description of where a place lies  Relative Location – a general description of where a place lies

Relative or Absolute?!?!  I live 30 degrees North.  I live in Raleigh, NC  I am traveling 20 degrees south and 40 degrees west  My friend lives in Alabama  For each example, you will stand up if you think the answer is relative and you will raise your hand if you think it is absolute.
