Location  The position that something occupies on the Earth’s surface  Location can be described in 5 ways

1. Place Name  Toponym: name give to a place on earth  Longest name of a place: Chargoggagoggmanchauggag oggchaubunagungamaugg

2. Absolute Location  Exact location such as an address or Latitude/longitude coordinates

3. Situation (relative location)  Location of a place relative to other locations

 Physical characteristics of a place  Climate, water, topography, soil, vegetation, elevation 4. Site

Human Characteristics  Characteristics about the people  Language, culture, population, tourism, economy, religion, government etc.
