A little info about our school

Facts About Our School Location-Johnson City, New York USA Grade Level- 4-8 Grade Latitude Degrees North Longitude-76 Degrees West Our school was built in October 12, 1937  We have 3 stories in our building.  We have radiators for heating.  We also have fans for cooling

More Facts  Our school is 4-8 grades  We are offered art, music, physical education, Spanish and religion as well as our normal courses  There are also clubs such as chorus, Science Club and intramurals (after school gym)

How we did the project  In order to do this project, two students took a digital thermometer and went outside to determine the temperature each day. Then each of the students recorded the temperature in their data table.  It was everyone’s responsibility to find out how many minutes of daylight each day and report to the class so that information could be recorded on the data tables.  When we were collecting our data, we were surprised that each day there were fewer minutes of sunlight.

What we discovered  Each student in our class selected a school from the list of participating schools.  The location of the 28 schools was marked on the huge world map which takes up one wall of our downstairs hallway.  We sent s to each of our chosen schools  We have not heard from all of them yet.  We divided into teams of 4 and worked with excel to look for trends in the data in the final verified database.  We noticed that the further a school was from the equator, the less sunlight it received.

What we liked  Using different instruments  Working in teams  Checking out other schools  Using the computers  Making graphs of real data  Writing s to other schools  Using our map skills to locate other schools  Thank you for taking a look at our information
