CI-CORE California State Universities Center for Integrated Coastal Observation, Research and Education SCCOOS Meeting Dana Point, CA Rick Pieper, SCMI/OSI/CSULB Chuck Trees, SDSU 18 October 2004

What is CICORE? CICORE is a distributed coastal ocean observatory comprised of 10 (of 23) CSU campuses - others will join. CICORE focuses on the near-coastal regions, including wetlands, harbors, estuaries CICORE emphasizes three technologies: –In situ sensors with high temporal resolution –Benthic mapping and characterization. –Hyperspectral digital imagery of shallow water and the coast

CICORE data (1): High temporal resolution in situ data –Presently collected at four sites Humboldt State University –Commercial pier “B” and Trinidad Head San Francisco State University/Romberg Tiburon Center –RTC waterfront Moss Landing Marine Laboratories –Small boats pier California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo –Unical pier in San Luis Bay –New sites to be added 2005 in southern California OSI/SCMI/CSULB –Los Angeles River fishing pier –Point Fermin mooring

San Francisco Bay, Tiburon - Fall 2003 T C S D
