Societal Topics Weeks 7 and 8 Internet Regulation: In some societies around the globe, governments are regulating internet usage of their citizens to prevent them from being allowed the freedom of access to information. Internet Governance: Internet governance is the development and application of shared principles, norms, rules, decision-making procedures, and programs that shape the evolution and use of the internet. EdX: EdX is a not-for-profit enterprise of its founding partners the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University to offer online university-level courses from a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide audience at no charge. The two institutions have each contributed $30 million of resources to the non profit project. Internet Protocol: The Internet Protocol (IP) is the principal communications protocol used for relaying datagrams(also known as network packets) across an internetwork using the Internet Protocol Suite responsible for routing packets across network boundaries. It is the primary protocol that establishes the Internet IP Adressing: An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.

Societal Topics Weeks 9 and 10 IPv6: IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is the latest revision of the Internet Protocol (IP), the primary communications protocol upon which the entire Internet is built. It is intended to replace the older IPv4, which is still employed for the vast majority of Internet traffic as of Net Neutrality: Net neutrality is a network design paradigm that argues for broadband network providers to be completely detached from what information is sent over their networks. Windows 8: On your desktop, with windows 8 you can have many built in apps to choose from. The system costs $39.99 as an upgrade. Routing Autonomous Systems: An Autonomous System (AS) is a collection of connected Internet Protocol (IP) routing prefixes under the control of one or more network operators that presents a common, clearly defined routing policy to the Internet.

Societal Topics Weeks 11, 12, and 13 Spam: Internet spam is junk mail sent out (usually over ) that is unwanted and could potentially lead to viruses or the loss of money or identity. There are many internet spam schemes today. Security: Internet security is a branch of computer security specifically related to the Internet, often involving browser security but also network security on a more general level as it applies to other applications or operating systems on a whole. Its objective is to establish rules and measures to use against attacks over the Internet. Computers-An electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program. Election- An election happens once every four years. A president can only stay in office for a maximum of eight years.
