City-State of Corinth

Government Corinth was a Monarchy Government responsibility under the King Collect Taxes Created a coin system Helped end unemployment Provided Government jobs Defended the city-state of Corinth Famous Periander (considered a harsh/cruel but effective ruler) -Trade flourished -Attempted to have a Canal built across the Isthmus of Corinth -Established colonies for Corinth (Syracuse) -Lots of Government buildings and public works projects

Education Boys went to school from ages 7-14 Similar to Athens, but not as good Subjects: Poetry, Drama, Public Speaking, Reading, Writing, Science, Music and Arithmetic. Military School at the age of 18 Wealthy provided higher education (accounting etc.)
