MY INDIVIDUAL PEACE PLAN By Melody Tanyanyiwa Zambuko

I would like to promote equality between men and women in Zimbabwe. In Zimbabwe, women constitute 52% of the total population, IF women are NOT empowered, the country will remain underdeveloped!

MY THEORY OF CHANGE: a catch them young approach! May – August 2014 Working with junior school kids at Budiriro 1 Primary School in Harare, I will workshop both boys and girls on the importance of changing attitudes towards the girl child (not looking down upon the girl child) September 2014 : I am because you are! I will hold a peace festival for the schools where parents, teachers, students, the media, politicians and community members come together and watch 1. a visual arts exhibition 2. a public debate 3. a theatre performance 4. a poetry performance 5. a dance piece 6. a musical concert 7. a compilation of literary works will be distributed to the audience 8. A post festival discussion will be held with the audience to assess impact Kidznet & Youth.com coverage Both TV and radio programs will cover the event for wider reach out

Expected Impact The girl child will have a new understanding of herself as human and equally capable as the boy child. The inferiority complex will be dealt with The youth will begin (from a tender age) to consider male and female beings as equal The children’s voices will be more clear and memorable to the community and audience Children will learn various art forms at a tender age Arts will be used as a tool to educate, inform and empower across age groups

PROJECT PLAYERS PEACE FESTIVAL Pupils Teachers, artists, project coordinators Parents, community, audience Partners SOS, Min of Edu., UNICEF, Plan, UK Save the Child, Arts Attack other schools Media Politicians legislatures, child parliamentarians others

A point to ponder!
