Membership ATANZ currently stands at 110 members. Membership has grown slightly over 2015 as a result of supported training provided through ATANZ and TalkLink Trust towards Ministry of Health Communication Assistive Technology accreditation. Further opportunities to assist this process and membership benefits are being explored. Professional development Over the past year we have run a number of courses and supported smaller training events. Sally Clendon completed her Balanced Literacy Approach workshops which were facilitated through TalkLink Trust. ATANZ worked in with the AGOSCI Tour to host Webinar sites in Auckland Wellington and Christchurch for Tracey Kovach speaking on Ongoing Assessment that Informs ACC Innervation Planning and Development. Over March and April of this year we facilitated a two day Introductory PODD workshop and an Alternate Access course in both Auckland and Christchurch. More recently, in July, in Auckland and Christchurch we hosted the Minspeak New Zealand tour with Bruce Baker and Chris Bugaj with the support of Liberator and DTSL. Following initial planning with uLearn and CORE education, the opportunity to run a conference this year was abandoned in favour of more specific workshops. Escalating costs were the primary reason for this however options for the future will continue to be assessed. Chairpersons Report
CAT Support ATANZ has provided support and assistance with TalkLink and MOH in the credentialing process. Following feedback, ATANZ is seeking to provide clearer guidelines for new therapist and those seeking to be recredentialed. The need for assessment resources and trial equipment has increased as numbers gaining CAT Level 1 have increased. Trial equipment has been managed through TalkLink Trust and further equipment options are being added to this to help reduce waiting times. Trustees The ATANZ board is made of great trustees who volunteer their time alongside their other busy roles. I wish to thank the Trustees we have had in the past year, Sally Clendon, Michael Northcott, Retha van Rensburg, Justine Simpson, Devon Millar, and Magnus Hammarsal. Following election by the Trustees in August, the role of Chairperson has been handed to Magnus Hammarsal. We also wish to acknowledge Catherine Brill who has remained the ATANZ Treasurer. Your facilitation and support is very much appreciated and we can’t thank you enough. Chairpersons Report
We have a number of Trustees finishing their role on ATANZ. Devon Millar has recently resigned due to other commitments. Michael Northcott and Glen Dixon are standing down following completion of their maximum appointment term. We would like to formally acknowledge the hard work each person has put in over their times as a trustee and wish them well. Looking Ahead We are continually seeking to improve member benefits in the areas of access to information, equipment and training. New Trustees and training events provide further opportunities for development. Please let us know if you have an area you wish to know more about or have a workshop or course you would like us to consider getting behind. Glen Dixon Magnus Hammarsal Chairpersons Report
