In the WRITING section of your notebook, copy this down. A writing strategy for answering text-based questions. STATE part of the question and your answer in the first sentence. LOCATE evidence from the text to support your answer. ADD additional evidence or your own ANALYSIS. MAKE a meaningful connection or conclusion to tie together your answer and the evidence to the question.

Can taking ballet lessons benefit football players? S- Taking ballet as a form of cross-training may improve a football player’s performance. L- According to the article, “What Ballet Does for Football,” both activities use the same muscle groups. The author writes, “Similar skills are required and even some of the same injuries are common.” A- The article continues to explain the similar skills: flexibility, speed and agility, strength, balance, mental focus, and endurance. M- It would actually be a great idea for a football player to take a ballet class when he wants to improve his performance on the field.
