Definition of STDs and STIs

Out of five infected persons three are women. Age range mostly infected; youths between 15 and 39 years.

Means of transmition Through sex Uprotected sexual intercourse with an infected partner. Through blood. Transfusion of infected blood,sharp objects soiled with infected blood. From mother to child. During pregnancy,during delivery and when breastfeeding. Cultural practices.

How to prevent STIs Abstinence. Correct and systematic use of condom.

Reasons for spread. Lack of information. Fear of going in for the screening test. Refusal to abstain. Low rate of condom use.

Vulnerability of the woman Direct factor: The biological and physical constitution of our body. Stucture of the vagina. Dampness of teh vagina. The usefulness of the vaginal mucus. Indirect factors: Socioeconomic and cultural factors. High rate of illitracy. Financial dependency of the woman.

What to retain The earlier you do your test the better. STIs are open doors to HIV.
