Direction at your fingertips.

A compass rose is a design on a map that shows directions. It shows north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest.

When north is at the top of the compass rose, south is at the bottom, east is on the right, and west is on the left. These are the cardinal directions.

 North  South  East  West

Northeast is between north and east. This is an intermediate direction.

Northwest is between north and west. This is an intermediate direction.

Southeast is between south and east. This is an intermediate direction.

Southwest is between south and west. This is an intermediate direction.

 Northeast  Northwest  Southeast  Southwest

 North  South  East  West  Northeast  Northwest  Southeast  Southwest

Use the compass rose EVERYTIME you use a map!

Lets Practice! - We will use cardinal direction to explore the classroom. - For this activity the colored paper on the front board will be North. Expectations: During this activity you should use your notebook and compass rose to make comparisons between different objects and areas of the room.

Paste time! -Place and glue the Map given to you in the bottom right of page we have been working on -Make sure that you’re not covering the holes in the notebook!!
