Amazing Animals By Michael Payan Explore animal wonders

Penguins are very amazing animals. Penguins live on land in groups. These groups are called rookeries (Roo-ker-Es). The largest rookeries have over a 1,000,000 penguins and are louder than a crowd at football games. When penguins go in the water they lay down and slide in like it’s a water slide but they can only do this when there is ice or snow. When they slide it is called tobogganing (tuh-bog-uhn-ing). Animal Wonders

Adelie penguins get out of the water by swimming very fast under water and shooting out of the air like rockets.

LEMURS Lemurs are small, furry, cat-looking animals, except with a much longer tail. Experts think they came from Africa. 160,000,000 years ago the land that they lived on broke off and floated 500 miles away and became Madagascar. It’s true!

The word lemur comes from the Latin language meaning spirit of the night or ghost The word lemur comes from the Latin language meaning ghost or spirit of the night because of their reflective eyes and wailing cries.

The weedy sea dragon At birth the male weedy sea dragon carries the egg. Only a few species of animals do this.

The oyster toadfish The oyster toadfish, also known as the oyster cracker, got that name from what it eats and how it eats it. The oyster cracker eats oysters and breaks their shells. The fish uses its sharp teeth and extremely strong jaws.

All of my info came from Wikipedia. All of my pictures came from Google images.
