The Radical Stage The Reign of Terror - France declares war on Austria (1792) -Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette (1793) -Constitution of Robespierre Comes to Power Under the Committee of Public Safety (1793) -Thermidorian Reaction and Fall of Robespierre (1794) The Thermidorian Reaction was a revolt within the French Revolution against the leadership of the Jacobin Club over the Committee of Public Safety. It was triggered by a vote of the National Convention to execute Maximilien Robespierre, Louis Antoine de Saint-Just, and several other leading members of the revolutionary government. This ended the most radical phase of the French Revolution.
The Directory - The Directory ( ) Members of the National Convention feared for their own lives and turned on Robespierre-beheading him and ending the Reign of Terror. Created a new constitution which had a legislative branch and a five member consul as the executive branch-known as the Directory Despite corruption it gave France a period of order.
