Welcome to Back to School Night Welcome to Fourth Grade

Miss Burkholder’s Homeroom

A Little About Miss Burkholder! I went to Gwynedd Mercy Academy for High School. I attended Moravian College for a B.S. in Psychology and Elementary Certification. This is my 12th year teaching!  I taught fifth grade for two years on Navajo Reservation in Arizona.  I taught Fourth grade at a private school in Bucks County.  I taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Fourth Grade here at Saucon Valley. I enjoy sports. I have coached track, cross country, swimming, and basketball and yoga. Most importantly I enjoy spending time with my four nieces and two nephews. I also enjoy traveling the United States

Homework Homework is given – daily even on weekends! Time is given at the beginning of each class for students to copy homework into their assignment books. Please notify me if your child is struggling with the assignments We will gladly gather homework assignments if a child is absent.

Mathematics Program- Everyday Math (New Common Core Edition) Taught using cooperative groups Students will take a pretest and post- tests to determine skills that each kids need Students will be taking timed math fact tests We will be stressing that students are be able to “Explain your answer and why”

Science Taught second and third quarters THEMES: Environments, Electricity, Earth materials, Earth Movement

Social Studies Topics are Map skills, Landforms, Regions of the United States, and Pennsylvania

Communication Please look for the weekly newsletter it will be ed. I will be available to you through phone calls, notes, and conferences. Should you like to meet with me concerning your child we can arrange a mutually agreeable time. Please look for you child’s Wednesday envelope for other announcements. Our school’s website also has information and updates If a note is sent please remind your child to place it in the basket Please REMEMEBR to both teachers regarding any changes to dismissal or concerns you may have. –
