 Everything you do has a consequence.  Are you doing things that help others and society.  Or are you doing things that are disruptive and hurt other people.  Everything matters and your actions affects others in ways you may not intend or even know about.  You are part of society as a whole.

 Means being accountable for your actions.  Accountable – willing to accept the consequences of your actions  You show responsibility at:  Home  School  At work

 Support school events  Show your school spirit in positive ways  Protect school property  Help others having difficulty  Treat everyone with respect  Work to improve your school

 How do you show responsibility on the job??  Employees that show responsibility get better reviews, raises, and promotions.  Those who don’t are often fired are disciplined.  It also benefits others.

 One way to make a difference is to volunteer.  Some organizations are:  Homeless shelter  Ronald McDonald House  Womans’ Care Center  Hope Rescue Mission  Human Society  Habitat for Humanity  And many others.

 Leadership – involves giving people the direction they need to achieve their goals.  Having capable leaders helps organizations keep and attract new members to help.  Help motivate the group and helps the group to collaborate.  Leadership roles helps you learn and practice skills that will be useful in your future career.

 Help at a local food bank, senior center, or animal shelter  Participate in a charity walkathon or race  Participate in a Habitat for Humanity build  Coach a special Olympics team  Help beautify your community by planting flowers  Take part in a neighborhood cleanup  Counsel others on a teen hot line  Help with a campaign to combat violence, drunk driving, or drug abuse  Work with a recycling or hazardous waste removal program
